BBC Children in Need’s vision is that children and young people in the UK have a safe, happy and secure childhood and the chance to reach their potential.
Our role in achieving this vision is by making grants to charities and other non-profit organisations that support and work with children and young people who are disadvantaged and face challenges in their lives.
We are currently supporting 3,963 projects across the UK, helping to change the lives of 550,000 young people in the last grant year.* In 2019/20, we awarded grants totalling £48.7m across the UK.
As a grant-maker, we fund projects in every community that support the most vulnerable young people, affected by disadvantages such as poverty and deprivation, illness, disability, abuse/neglect, marginalised groups, distress and behavioural difficulties.
Our funding has helped those supported to have better self-belief & emotional/physical wellbeing, improved relationships, increased essential skills, feel safer and more empowered.
Through our COVID-19 response programme, we have awarded 1,303 supporting grants totalling £1.2m awarded to help projects adapt and continue to deliver their services during the pandemic, to those who need it the most.
