Squeegee Paint Art
Ready for a really satisfying art activity for older kids? This squeegee method will create vibrant and eye-catching designs that are brilliant fun to make together.
What you will need
- White craft card
- Different colours of acrylic paint
- A clean squeegee with a handle (the type used to clean car windows)
- Newspaper or a plastic sheet/tablecloth
How to do it
- Lay out your newspaper or plastic sheet to protect surfaces.
- Make sure your white paper is secure and won’t slip around.
- Squeeze colourful dots of paint onto your paper in any pattern or arrangement you like.
- Grab your squeegee and rest the rubber edge at the top of the paper.
- Carefully pull the squeegee towards you along the paper, using only very light pressure. If you want, you can create bendy shapes and zigzags as you go.
- Watch as the paint is dragged along the surface and a bright and colourful abstract design is created!
- Leave your amazing work to dry.
If you want to repeat the process with the same squeegee, be sure to wash it thoroughly in warm, soapy water – or the last colours you used will mix with the new ones.
