Homemade kazoos
This crafty idea allows kids to make their own instruments. It’s a really fun challenge that you can take on together – and the kazoos you create will sound hilarious!
What you will need
- A cardboard tube (toilet paper or kitchen roll tubes work perfectly)
- Baking paper/parchment
- Scissors
- Rubber bands
How to do it
- This step is for adults only: Using the scissors, cut out a square of baking paper that will easily cover one end of the tube and fold around it.
- Place the paper square over the end of the tube and secure it with a rubber band. Use two if you need!
- Another adults-only step: Poke four holes down the side of the cardboard tube using your sharp object.
- Decorate your tube in all of the colours and materials you like, then leave it to dry.
- Put the open end of the tube to your mouth and make some noise! Sing a tune, speak in a funny voice – or do whatever you like to enjoy the funny sound of the instrument you’ve just made!
