16 year old Katie has been going to Mixtup for the last three years. Funded by your donations, this is an incredibly inclusive youth club in Wales that has been a big support to Katie.

Katie has a rare genetic disorder called William’s syndrome, it has a profound impact on her everyday life. Her joints are very weak so she has problems moving around and is often in a lot of pain. Katie also has learning difficulties and get help at school with writing and coordination.

During lockdown Mixtup have been delivering even more sessions than they usually would, all via video. They are often themed and use different activities but mostly they are a chance to have a good old catch up and check in with each other.

Mixtup has helped Katie to reconnect with friends and allowed her to see people online during lockdown who she would have been unable to catch up with. Katie can join from the comfort of her own home and take part in quizzes, online games, group meetings to chat about similar interests, it’s so good. If Katie needs one to one emotional support, that’s also an option.

Katie says Mixtup is like an extended family and an invaluable connection for her during the CV19 pandemic.
