Seanain’s story
Seanain, 8, lives with mum Kath, dad Sean and older sisters Chloe and Grace in County Antrim in Northern Ireland. Born with Spina bifida, Hydrocephalus and 15 other conditions, she’s had multiple, risk taking surgeries. Despite her health getting worse every year, Seanain is the brightest spark who lights up a room and has a big personality. BBC Children In Need fund Louise, the Activities Co-ordinator at Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice, plus other facilitators, who run a huge range of sessions for the children with serious medical conditions. Seanain loves the sessions and the Supported Short Breaks, the hospice has opened a whole new world for the family and has been a security net. During lockdown Louise has been seeing most of the children she works with over video call, phone calls, or – when necessary – visiting with full PPE.
