BBC Children in Need is the data controller and will collect and process the personal data that you provide to us for the purposes of contacting you about your submission and using your submission in our fundraising campaign.
Our lawful basis for this is that it is in our legitimate interests to undertake fundraising, promotion and related activities to further our charitable objectives. We will keep the submission for up to one year.
We may share the information you provide with the BBC and BBC group companies (including BBC Studios Productions Limited “BBC Studios”) for the purposes of creating content in the run up to BBC Children in Need’s Appeal Night and for fundraising campaigns. When we share with the BBC and BBC Studios, they will each be separate data controllers to us. The BBC’s lawful basis is the performance of its public task (the BBC’s role is to act in the public interest and to serve all audiences with content which informs, educates, and entertains). BBC Studios’ lawful basis is its legitimate interests to produce, promote and distribute content and to fulfil its obligations to the BBC and Children in Need.
We, the BBC and BBC Studios work with approved third-party providers who help us to provide some of our services. We undertake due diligence and have agreements in place with them to ensure your personal data is always safe and secure.
You have rights in respect of the personal information we hold about you, to see a copy of your data or to rectify, delete or object to how we process your data.
