We Move FWD: ‘Through our Eyes’
BBC Children in Need is there for the children who need it most, UK-wide.
We Move FWD is a 10-year commitment to progress, driving the change that is needed to build a brilliant, equitable future for young Black people. It exists to champion and safeguard Black joy and imagination. Through this initiative, BBC Children in Need funds Black children and young people – along with their communities – to help them create a world in which they can thrive.
So far, nearly £4 million has been invested to create and support opportunities in communities across the UK through We Move FWD.
Below are the stories of just some of the youth social action projects delivered with the help of We Move FWD; projects that empower young Black people to use their voices, ideas and resources to tackle the social issues that matter most to them – with the support of The #iWill Fund.
I felt blessed being on the photography project, especially being with Jeremiah.
Jeremiah (15) and Elijah (14) have worked with professional photographer Aneesa Dawoojee to build on their interest in photography, developing their skills and abilities. Their resulting work tells the story of an inspiring and fulfilling project funded by BBC Children in Need.
Meet our young visionary directors
The short films that feature in this showcase have been developed by young people from across the UK, with the close support of TAG agency – a creative agency co-creating radical solutions with new-gen talent. This initiative has seen young people lead on everything from ideas generation to storyboarding and production, right through to the final edit.
Projects shown as part of this exhibition include: The Spit Game from London, The DataKirk from Scotland, Thurrock African Group from Essex and Humber All Nations Alliance Limited from Hull.
