Issy and her Mum look after Issy’s Dad, who has FND (Functional Neurological Disorder), and her little sister, Maddie, who also has some complex medical needs.

At home, Issy is on hand to help her Mum with Maddie or help her Dad. She’s more than happy to help, but it means she sometimes spends more time being a young carer at home than doing the usual things children do. That’s where you come in.

Your donations mean Issy is supported by New Forest Young Carers, part of Community First Wessex. They organise activities so young people like Issy can spend time with other young carers, away from added responsibilities, and do the things they enjoy.

In addition to this, as a part of last year’s BBC Children in Need show, Issy also took part in a special film with the BBC Philharmonic which helped to boost her confidence and enjoyment of musical theatre.

Lockdown has made things tougher as her time away from home is limited, but the New Forest Young Carers project are still finding ways to get together, have fun and offer their support.
