Shay’s story

Shay has lived with Tourette’s syndrome from a young age. At one point, his tics were so bad that he would repeatedly punch his own chest. His parents found this very distressing and didn’t know how to help.

Shay was introduced to Tic Fest – gatherings for children living with Tourette’s, run by project workers from BBC Children in Need-funded organisation Tourettes Action. At Tic Fest, Shay can meet and feel understood by others living with the same condition. His parents have also been introduced to different techniques and medication that can help him.
