Enya’s Story

16-year-old Enya says she’s always been a bit of a worrier, but her anxieties got particularly bad when she started secondary school and she missed over half her school time. She wondered if her anxiety would forever hold her back. But when her school referred her to Empire Fighting Chance, everything changed for Enya.

Empire uses an inspiring combination of non-contact boxing and personal development coaching, to help young people experiencing emotional and behavioural issues.

During the sessions Enya’s coach and mentor would relate boxing to her mental health – for example, talking about anxiety and ‘facing the fear’.

This helped Enya to cope and attend school more. Enya says Empire has turned her life around and she’s now started college to train as a Personal Trainer.
