Monster Pencil Toppers
Do the children in your life love arts and crafts AND monsters? These pencil toppers are the perfect project for them – and a great way to spend time together inside on a rainy day.
What you will need
- Pencils
- Felt – two colours for each monster
- Googly eyes
- A hot glue gun (OR PVA glue and a needle and thread if you don’t have a hot glue gun or would prefer not to use one!)
How to do it
- Choose two sheets of felt in different colours.
- Wrap each piece of felt around the end of your pencil to check how much you’ll need. One piece should be very slightly wider, as it will need to fit over the top of the other.
- Adults only: cut a rectangle from each piece of felt – about 8cm long – using the amount you measured with the pencil for width.
- Adults only: make lots of cuts of 5 or 6cm in length along one short edge of each piece of felt.
- Adults only: hot glue the first piece felt around the end of your pencil OR stitch it in place, then glue or stitch the second piece of felt over the first. You can leave a little of the first colour popping out underneath.
- Stick a pair of googly eyes onto your monster.
- Let everything dry and your hilarious monster pencil toppers are finished!
