We are committed to protecting your personal information. We want your interactions with us to be safe and enjoyable. This Privacy Notice describes how we collect and use personal information about you during and after your relationship with us.

BBC Children in Need will collect and process the personal information that you have provided to us about yourself.  This personal information is your first and last name, work email address, school name, address and fundraising activities.

The personal information that you provide will be processed for the purposes of us fulfilling the prize draw, sending any prizes if you win, contacting you to find out more about your submission if you have opted-in for us to do so and sending you our newsletters if you have opted-in for us to do so.

When you provide information to us, BBC Children in Need is the data controller of your personal information and we are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office with registration number Z1523450.  BBC Children in Need is a company limited by guarantee (number 04723022) and a charity registered in England and Wales under number 802052 and in Scotland under number SC039557.

The legal basis on which BBC Children in Need processes your personal information for the purposes of fulfilling the prize draw is our legitimate interests of engaging with supporters (and we don’t believe this unreasonably impacts on your rights and freedoms).  The legal basis on which we process your information for the purposes of marketing is your consent.  You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting [email protected].

We will retain your information in accordance with our retention policy, an extract of which is available on request.

BBC Children in Need

BBC Children in Need Prize Draw Terms and Conditions – Secondary Schools 2023

1. The prize draw is open to all registered secondary schools in the UK, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man, except anyone closely connected with the prize draw or any BBC Children in Need employees or relatives. Entrants must be authorised by the school to enter and be 18 or over. By entering, all entrants will be deemed to accept these Terms and Conditions.
2. There will be one winner and 30 runners up.
3. The main winning prize is a £500 Amazon gift card for the winning school. The runner up prizes are a £50 Amazon gift card.  Any applicable terms and conditions for the Amazon gift card will apply including the expiry date specified for the relevant gift card.
4. To enter, you must complete the schools ‘Tell us how you’re getting involved’ form online at https://www.bbcchildreninneed.co.uk/schools/secondary/tell-us-what-youre-doing/, and selecting ‘secondary’ as your school phase. There is no other method of entry. No payment, purchase or investment is necessary to be eligible to enter the prize draw.
5. Entries open on Wednesday 6^th September 2023 and close at midnight on Friday 17^th November 2023.
6. Only one entry per secondary school will be allowed: only the first entry will be considered, with all future entries subsequently discounted. Entries from third party agents or bulk entries will not be eligible for the prize draw.
7. Entries received after the closing date will not be included in the prize draw. BBC Children in Need will not be responsible for any entries that are not received by it for any reason, by the closing date, whether lost, delayed, corrupted or otherwise, and whether or not due to any technical difficulties or malfunctions.
8. Unclear entries will not be eligible for the prize draw and acceptance of an entry is subject to BBC Children in Need’s reasonable discretion.
9. Within ten working days after the closing date the winners of this prize draw will be drawn at random by BBC Children in Need from all valid entries received. The winners will be randomly selected using a number generator and this will be completely independent and unbiased. BBC Children in Need’s decision is final on all matters and no correspondence will be entered into.
10. The winners will be contacted by email. BBC Children in Need will endeavour to notify the winners on Monday 4^th December 2023. If, after reasonable attempt, a winner does not respond to claim their prize within 5 working days (being Monday – Friday) of our first contact, or a winner refuses the prize for any reason, BBC Children in Need reserves the right to offer the prize to the next randomly selected secondary school that validly entered the prize draw.
11. By entering the prize draw you agree that, if you win, BBC Children in Need may publicise the secondary school name and county. If you object to any or all of your secondary school or county being published, please contact BBC Children in Need at [email protected] In such circumstances, BBC Children in Need must still provide the information to the Advertising Standards Authority on request.
12. Prizes will be sent out by no later than 31 December 2023.   Gift cards will be sent as electronic gift cards to the email address used to enter the prize draw.  This must be a work email address for the relevant school you are entering.
13. The prize must be accepted as offered; there is no cash alternative or replacement. The prize is not transferable.
14. We may cancel prize draw, if deemed necessary in our opinion, or if circumstances arise outside our control.  We may also amend these terms and conditions at any stage and in any way.
15. These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales and the English courts have jurisdiction.
