2022 virtual TCS London Marathon: Terms and conditions
By registering for a BBC Children in Need charity place in the 2022 virtual TCS London Marathon, you are agreeing to the below terms and conditions.
1.BBC Children in Need (“we”, “us”, “our”) has 65 places to allocate for the 2022 virtual TCS London Marathon taking place on 2 October 2022.
2. The virtual event is operated by London Marathon Events Ltd and is subject to their terms and conditions – see for more information. In particular, participants must use the Official London Marathon App, powered by TCS, to track the event and to enable participants to log their 26.2 miles. We are not responsible or liable for the event in any way or for any acts or omissions of London Marathon Events Ltd or for the content or operation of its website or any app.
3. You understand that, if you are allocated a space by BBC Children in Need, you will have 23 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds (from 00:00:00 to 23:59:59) on Sunday 2 October 2022 to complete all 26.2 miles on the course of your choice.
4. You understand that you don’t have a place in the physical London Marathon event with BBC Children in Need.
5. You must comply with any local restrictions or government guidelines on coronavirus and social distancing in respect of all your activities relating to this event, including when training or carrying out any fundraising.
6. All applicants and runners must be based in the UK and be aged 18 years or older on the day of the event.
7. You must not use a treadmill or any other stationary running machine and/or equipment to take part in the virtual 2022 virtual TCS London Marathon. All participants must complete the 26.2 miles outside.
8. Registration for one of the 65 BBC Children in Need places will be accepted from 9.00am on Monday 30 May 2022 until 23.59pm on Sunday 12 June 2022 (the “Closing Date”).

10. You acknowledge that by submitting your application form, you consent to being contacted by us in accordance with our You also acknowledge that BBC Children in Need will share your contact details with the organiser of the event in accordance with our
11. After completing your BBC Children in Need registration, your details will be passed to the event organiser and you will be contacted by them to confirm your registration for the event. You must register with the third party event organiser within the time period specified in their email to you. Failure to do so will mean the loss of your place and that you cannot take part in the event.
12. You acknowledge this is a fundraising event and commit to doing your best to raise a minimum sponsorship pledge of £262, excluding any Gift Aid or employer match giving.
13. You agree to pay all sponsorship funds collected or raised to BBC Children in Need no later than six weeks after the event.
14. When fundraising, you must make your donors aware BBC Children in Need will be paying the £28 cost of your entry into the event from the sponsorship money/ donations that you make. It is critical you make your donors aware of this.
15. When fundraising, you must act lawfully and follow any fundraising guidelines given by BBC Children in Need. You must make it clear you are fundraising in “aid of BBC Children in Need” and are not representing on behalf of BBC Children in Need. You must not do anything that may harm the reputation of BBC Children in Need or act in a manner contrary to our values.
16. You acknowledge that you are responsible for organising all aspects of your fundraising and that we will not accept any liability relating to your fundraising.
17. You agree:

- not to raise funds by carrying out house-to-house collections;
- not to collect in any public place without first obtaining a collector’s licence from the local authority and you acknowledge you are responsible for obtaining any such licence and this is not the responsibility of BBC Children in Need;
- not to collect on private property (including shops, restaurant, pubs etc.) without first obtaining the permission of the owner; and
- not to reproduce the any BBC Children in Need logo, but obtain all fundraising materials direct from us.
18. If you have to withdraw prior to the event, you must notify BBC Children in Need immediately and before the registration deadline set by the event organiser if possible. This means we can re-allocate your place to someone else. Any money raised will be retained as a donation towards BBC Children in Need. If you wish to refund your donors in this instance, you must ask your individual donors to make a written request to BBC Children in Need, as they will be refunded directly.
19. We are unable to defer your place for any reason.
20. The event which you are registering for is physically challenging and may pose a risk of discomfort, illness, injury, and even death. You need to be satisfied that you are physically capable of doing the event without undue risk to your health or life. We do not conduct health or fitness checks on entrants and the responsibility for your ability to participate in the event is with you as the participant. If you have a medical condition or are unsure of your physical ability to take part in the event, you must seek medical advice from a general practitioner prior to the participating in the event.
21. You acknowledge that BBC Children in Need is unable to provide insurance for fundraising activity, and that you are responsible for securing appropriate insurance cover if required for your fundraising activity.
22. You acknowledge that you are fully responsible for your participation in the event and BBC Children in Need does not accept responsibility or liability for any loss or damage arising from the event or your fundraising activities.
